Top 5 Most Underrated Players in NBA 2K22 so far

As the release date nears, we've released some NBA 2K22 guides, including release dates, covers, prices, pre-order bonuses, ways to get NBA 2K22 MT, and player ratings. Of course, there will be more player ratings to come. But with a dozen or so ratings already out, which players are underrated as the season begins?

Here are our top 5 most underrated players in NBA 2K22 so far.

Zach Lavine, 87 OVR, Chicago Bulls

Zach Lavine

Zach Lavine, easily the biggest name on the Chicago Bulls roster right now, was given an 87 rating this year in NBA 2K22.

LaVine was one of only three players to average 26 or more points on 50+ percent shooting from the field and 40+ percent from downtown. The other two players were Kyrie Irving (yet to be announced) and Kevin Durant (96). He was easily one of the most efficient and dominant scorers in the league last season, which feels like it should warrant (if anything) a stable playing rating. However, he falls right behind players like Zion Williams, Rudy Gobert, Trae Young, and Khris Middleton.

While we expect Lavine's rating to rise this year with more weapons on the Chicago Bulls (Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan) - he should probably have started a bit higher in NBA 2K22.

Khris Middleton, 88 OVR, Milwaukee Bucks

Khris Middleton

On NBA 2K22, the current version of Khris Middleton has an Overall 2K Rating of 88, which feels a bit underrated.

Khris Middleton is among the very best players who ever played for the Bucks franchise. If it weren't for him, the Milwaukee Bucks wouldn't have won the NBA Championship. With his contribution in the playoffs this year, he should've earned at least a 90 OVR.

Trae Young, 89 OVR, Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young

Trae Young has 89 OVR in NBA 2K22 and feels underrated.

Young was one of the best offensive players in the NBA in 2019-20, averaging 29.6 points per game while earning his first All-Star selection. His scoring dropped slightly in 2020-21, but he still averaged 25.3 points and 9.4 assists per game while leading the Hawks to the playoffs for the first time in four years. Young averaged 28.8 points in the Hawks' 16 playoff games.

With an incredible Playoffs campaign, Young should've at least broke a 90 overall rating this year, perhaps even close to Damian Lillard's 94 OVR in NBA 2K22.

Jayson Tatum, 90 OVR, Boston Celtics

Trae Young

Jayson Tatum feels a bit underrated at 90 overall.

Tatum's numbers last season were impressive. He averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, shouldering a greater burden within the Celtics' offense. While he missed out on an All-NBA nod, he did make his second All-Star team and cemented himself as one of the best players in the league.

Tatum (based on statistics) should rival players like Kawhi Leonard in terms of rating. Leonard comes in as a 95 OVR in NBA 2K22, yet Tatum outperforms him in rebounds per game, blocks per game, and points per game. With this, Tatum should absolutely start at a higher rating in NBA 2K22, closer to 93 OVR.

James Harden, 94 OVR, Brooklyn Nets

James Harden

Brooklyn Nets' star James Harden was rated 94 overall to start on this year's version of the famous basketball simulation game that doesn't quite add up.

For starters, Harden has better individual stats than some of the players above him, including more assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks than Lebron James (who comes in at 96 OVR in NBA 2K22). James Harden played eight games for the Houston Rockets last season before getting traded to the Nets. Even though Brooklyn has two ball-dominant players in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, it did not hinder Harden's playmaking as he still averaged 10.8 assists while also scoring 24.6 points per game.

With this, Harden could easily have gotten a 95-96 OVR in NBA 2K22.

I think 2K should show more love to these players in the NBA 2K22 ratings. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section!
